MB’s fully supported slots are all sold out. You can still register to ride self-supported however. And we encourage you to do so. Route-wise it will be a classical version of MB, going westward visiting Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt and through MB’s birthground to finish at our favourite former graveyard. I’ve always felt the graveyard to be a fitting final destination the past MB’s, but now it really hits the mark. The last MB in this form, riding a similar loop as the first time around, backwards, through where it was born, finishing at a graveyard. Full circle.

A new dawn

Hi all, we’re back again. My word, has that been a while. As usual after MB, I was left satisfied but utterly depleted. The months after have been marked by a personal quest for sense and reason, on multiple levels.

Lots of things have changed privately. They tend to always do, these things. And that’s a good thing. It did lead me to decide something that involves the future of MB400 however: 2025 will mark the end of the Maurice Brocco 400 24-hours challenge.

Time is ones richest good. I started this trip now ten years ago. It’s been quite like riding a single MB400: ups and downs, falling down and getting up again, getting rained upon, getting cold, warm, tired, hungry, thirsty, sad, happy, climbing up, speeding down, feeling alone then meeting others, enjoying the experience.

Now the time has come for me personally to enjoy differently. Seeing events similar to MB400 spawn left and right over the past three years, helped me in the decision to take a step back. It’s not an empty space I leave behind. And yet it kind of will be, I guess, because there’s supposed to be only one MB400. Thus, this will be Maurice’s last ride, for now.

Looks fresh, right? A brand new site also means registration is now online! We’re going into our ninth year now and we’ve cooked up a route of around 430 km with at least 6000 m total ascent. At least, because to celebrate its ninth year, MB will offer a total of 9 specific ascents, some of which will be optional. The route with more cumulative elevation gain will also be longer, meaning it won’t be for the faint of heart. Timing is as usual, albeit with an early start as opposed to starting at noon usually, meaning: you’ll have 24 hours to finish. A definitive starting time is still jotted down with some question marks, but we’re looking at something between 7:00 and 9:00. This means you’ll probably want to travel to Dresden a day beforehand if you’re coming from further away.

This year’s route will take you through mountain ranges in Saxony and Czech Republic, through Bohemian Switzerland, the Jizera and the Giant mountains. For the first and most likely only time, MB will reach an altitude of 1400 m above sea level. On our latitude this means you won’t be seeing trees anymore as you’ll actually be riding above tree line, or riding through alpine tundra in fact.
